The Power of Color

By Clare Mishica

Would you like to do well on your math test? Then you might begin by studying for it in a yellow room. Some children painted the rooms where they study yellow, and they got better grades! Today, scientists tell us that color has power. It can change the way you think and feel.
Some colors can fool your brain. For instance, the color black can make things seem heavy. Some workers said the black boxes they had to lift weighed too much. But after those boxes were painted green, they seemed much lighter!
Other colors may change the way you feel. When one company painted a room blue, the workers said it was too cold. Some of them began to wear coats! Then orange paint was put on the walls. Orange covers were put on the chairs. This color trick worked, and everyone felt warm again.
